Bear

In Da-Gun, First King of Korea, a bear, along with a tiger, wish to be human. The Bear shows patience and is rewarded by being changed into a beautiful woman who wishes for children. The Bear becomes queen and gives birth to the first human ruler.

In Bear, Ant, Grouse, Frog and the Yellowjackets, Bear is against sleeping everyday. Instead, Bear wants to sleep every year whereas all of the other creatures only want to sleep every day. After getting very annoyed, Bear ends discussion by trying to eat everyone. Those that he doesn't eat run away and leave him alone. Bear ends up getting his way and that is why he hibernates.

In Wren and the Grizzly Bear, Bear once again shows himself to be quick to anger when he eats Wren for being annoying. This shows Bear as being a creature that you do not want to bother. He will put up with annoyances for awhile, but when his patience is gone those doing the bothering better watch out.

In Eastern Asian cultures, the bear has unending patience while it appears that the West Coast Americas see bears as creatures that are annoyed into violence. This may seem like two very different views, but I feel that The people of the Americas are just looking at what happens when a very patient creature finally hits its breaking point.
