Eagle
In The Monkey's Gratitude, the eagle is portrayed as an evil being. It is also a baby-eating creature that waits patiently for the proper moment to strike. The eagle is also a creature that works together in a group.
In Raven and Eagle, Eagle is seen as a person who seeks revenge on his brother because he would not help Eagle to save his son from death. The revenge that Eagle pursues, while harmful, can be seen as justified. The act is done more out of grief than it is out of spite.
In Contest between Eagle, Raven and Killer Whale, Eagle is the second to drop out of the race. This story shows that Eagle is not as lazy as Killer Whale, but it still shows that Raven is stronger. This story was used to show why the different tribes had the power that they did.
The Eagle is portrayed slightly differently between the Asia group and the Americas group. The Asian viewpoint is one where the eagle is an evil creature that lives to kill. The eagle is seen in a much better light by those from the Americas. There, the eagle is linked with the ordinary person and the troubles they go through in their lives.
